Beginning Gardening Class

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oswego County to host Beginning Gardening Class

Don’t be afraid to try gardening.  There are just a few simple things you need to know to get started.  And the more you learn – even by trial and error – the better gardener you can become.  The Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oswego County Master Gardeners are offering a “Beginning Gardening Class Series” to get you started as well as answer questions you may have.

Monday April 25th from 6:00 to 8:30 pm at the Cornell Cooperative Extension Office, 3288 Main St., Mexico, NY.  Jan Smith, Oswego County Master Gardener will instruct a “Vegetable Gardening Class for the Beginners” and “Seed Starting Basics”

These classes are not just for the beginner, but they are good as a refresher for every gardener.  Topics to be covered include garden location, water, soil, site selection, fertilizer, container gardening, mulching, managing weeds, companion planting, garden layouts, tips on transplanting, and seed saving, etc.

This will be a hands-on demonstration and participants will take home vegetable seeds for planting.

The cost is only $15 for the workshop. Cost includes handouts and hands-on seed starting.
Pre-registration is required, please contact Shawna at 315-963-7286, ext. 201.  Please let us know if you have special needs.
